Real Sociedad’s striker has immerged as a priority signing for Barcelona, who are still looking to sign a replacement for Ousmane Dembele after his latest injury is said to sideline him for the entire season.

Dembele is reportedly having his operation next Tuesday (11 February) in Finland after completely rupturing his proximal tendon of his right femoral bicep in a Barcelona training session. After this operation, a new medical statement will reveal the estimated time the Frenchman will have to spend on the sidelines.

The Catalans are struggling with a lack of attackers in the current squad this season, having let Carles Perez and Abel Ruiz leave on loan to Roma and Braga respectively, and injury to Luis Suarez and Dembele has left only Lionel Messi, Antoine Greizmann and Ansu Fati as their attacking options.

Marca reports that the latest name on the list of possible replacements for the injured Frenchman is Real Sociedad striker, Willan Jose, after reports suggested Getafe striker Angel Rodriguez as an ideal candidate.

The report claims that the Spanish champions have been after the 28-year-old for a while now, and also prefer him over all the other candidates.

Jose’s release clause set at €70 million, however, will make it difficult for the Catalan side to negotiate a deal with Sociedad, but the talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

The Brazilian has scored 8 goals in 21 appearances this season but at 28 years of age will not be a long term replacement for Suarez but Barca does require an attacking reinforcement this month to bolster their chances of winning the La Liga or/and Champions League.
