Barcelona line-up a transfer for Premier League flop
With Ousmane Dembele facing a lengthy layoff besides Luis Suarez due to an injury, Barcelona are looking at short-term options.
Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele has joined his ace teammate Luis Suarez on the treatment table as both the players are staring at a return from injury only next season. The Uruguay international may still make his comeback some time in May, but Dembele’s injury is a lot more serious and he is also set to be surgically operated for a hamstring tear.

Getafe’s Angel has been thought to be an option, as have the likes of Loren Moron and Rodrigo from Real Betis and Valencia respectively. But the Catalans’ biggest hurdle is that they are potentially landing a player outside of the transfer window, so bringing in a talismanic figure from another team is proving to be a difficult task.
AS has reported that Quique Setien has now asked the Blaugrana to pursue a transfer for Deportivo Alaves forward Lucas Perez, who has a release clause worth 25 million and has been deemed as a non-negotiable price. Whether the Catalans would be allowed to sign a player outside the transfer period still remains to be seen, but a conclusion will be made when the Spanish Football Federation holds a meeting over the same on Tuesday.
Lucas Perez has been an important player for the Basque side he currently is playing in and also did a great job for former La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna. However, it is worth mentioning that he was unable to deliver the goods at Arsenal and West Ham where the pressure was relatively high, but still lower than what will be at the Camp Nou.
Even if the Spanish Federation allows the club to sign a player at this point in time, Barca must rely on their current squad and allow Ansu Fati to help them out rather than making a panic signing. As it is, they will be signing somebody in the summer so it is imperative that they save money for it rather than wasting their resource as well as the player who will take to settle in and make an impact.
Do you think Barcelona must spend on a player right now or wait until the summer?
