The  Barcelona left-back was forced off early in the first-half in the team’s 2-1 win over Getafe.

Barcelona’s uninspiring win against Getafe came at a price as Jordi Alba had to be subbed off after suffering an injury. The left-back appeared to have suffered a muscle injury and asked to be taken off after realizing he would not be able to continue.

According to Sport, Alba was close to tears on the bench after suffering his third injury of the season.

After the game, the club announced that Alba had injured his right abductor and that further tests would determine how long he would be sidelined.

As mentioned, it’s his third injury of the season with the two previous ones keeping him out for around a month, respectively.

What makes matters worse for Alba is he felt he was in the best shape of the season only to have this happen.

Sport also report that his mood did not improve even after getting support from his teammates.

For Barcelona, they are now set to be without their starting left-back for the games against Napoli and Real Madrid.

It also adds another prominent name to an injury list that includes Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembélé.

Quique Setién is already limited to the amount of players he can count on. The squad is stretched thin as it is not only because of the injuries but the players that were let go on loan.

But every bad news has its silver lining. In this case it means that Junior Firpo will get another chance to prove he is good enough to take over from Alba. He’s been given a few opportunities and has yet to fully convince. He did provide the assist for Sergi Roberto’s goal so he is off to a good start.
