Barcelona currently deals with a shortage of players in the attacking line With Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele sustaining long term injuries, Quique Setien is left with just three attacking players.
With Luis Suarez being sidelined, the Blaugrana are in search for his replacement for the upcoming season of 2020-21. The former Liverpool star has been phenomenal for the Blaugrana ever since his debut in 2014-15. However, with age catching up the veteran striker is no longer as clinical he was once in front of the goal.
The Blaugrana have considered several players to take over Luis Suarez’s role next season, some of them are Lucas Pérez, William José, Enes Unal, Rodrigo, Ángel Luis Rodríguez Díaz and Lautaro Martinez.
With every passing day, Barcelona keeps adding new strikers to their never-ending list that seems almost impossible to remember now. The latest player on the list is Real Madrid’s infamous Serbian striker Luka Jovic, according to Don Balon.
The Los Blancos and the Blaugrana battled it out to sign Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer transfer window of this season. Frankfurt’s number 8 chose to move to the Santiago Bernabéu to play for his childhood dream club. The Serbian striker is going through a rough patch at Real Madrid, as he has only found the net for the Los Merengues after only scoring only two goals in 15 matches in the Spanish top flight for the Los Merengues.
Jovic had dazzled the world after his breakthrough season with Eintracht Frankfurt last season. The Serbian striker scored 10 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League and also scored 17 goals in 32 games in the Bundesliga.
The Blaugrana can consider Jovic as a replacement for Luis Suarez as they both share similar game styles. Jovic is an all-round striker and does not particularly rely on one strength like many other forwards.
Luka Jovic is as explosive as it gets, the Serb can clock in a top speed of 21 miles per hour which is the same speed that Cristiano Ronaldo sprints it, according to the Bundesliga. The Real Madrid striker is simply unstoppable on the counter-attack last season, as he scored a goal for every 4.4 shots he took, converting three-quarters of goal scoring opportunities that came his way.
Could Luka Jovic be the replacement Barcelona need for Luis Suarez?
