Jose Mourinho is hoping to make a major signing from Barcelona, but the player arriving into north London will be a big surprise.

Irrespective of whether Manchester City’s ban in the Champions League stands or not, the fourth place in the Premier League is up for grabs. The likes of Chelsea, Sheffield United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are looking at a potential finish in a Champions League spot, with Jose Mourinho being the favourite to guide his side into Europe.

More from Everything Barca

Tottenham Hotspur have managed to recover their form since sacking Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho has ensured the results go Spurs’ way even though the football is not the most attractive at times. The Lilywhites claimed some convincing wins in the recent days against Manchester City and Aston Villa to strengthen their European bid.

Diario GOL has claimed that the former Manchester United manager will hope to sign Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the summer. Christian Eriksen’s departure to Inter Milan has not impacted the north Londoners as much as many thought, but the high-quality Denmark international will have to be replaced by someone worthy enough.

Rakitic’s profile certainly matches Tottenham’s requirement and the player will do a fantastic job under Jose Mourinho. The Croatia international gets into the thick of it quite often, whether it is while defending or attacking and his contribution has been incredible at Barca. However, it looks like the former Sevilla man doesn’t have a future at the Camp Nou.

Antonio Conte was contemplating the possibility of landing Ivan Rakitic into the San Siro during the winter, but nothing really materialized during January and the Serie A giants settled for Eriksen’s signing. Barcelona will mostly ask for a sum of 30 million euros if they receive an offer for Rakitic which the player finds attractive.

Having won a host of trophies during his time with the Blaugrana, Rakitic promises to be a fantastic addition in the Premier League. Moreover, Jose Mourinho will certainly have an interesting project in his mind with Tottenham, so Rakitic will benefit in another country should the Portuguese boss finally lead the club to a title after a long wait.
