Barcelona now faces a judicial issue to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain after Santos file a lawsuit against the Catalans for a breach in their contract.

The return of Neymar to the Camp Nou is still far from over. Everything was working out well for the return of the former Barcelona winger from PSG, however, Barcelona now faces a new legal hurdle to sign the world’s most expensive player.

The Blaugrana have received a burofax from the Brazilian club Santos, the Brazilian club demands a fee worth 4.5 million euros for a breach in the clause of the contract when Neymar Junior was sold to the Barcelona, according to Eldesmarque.
The report goes on to state the Neymar’s boyhood club has sued Barcelona and has described the breach in the contract as “a subscribed criminal clause” according to Eldesmarque.
The legendary Brazilian club has sued Barca worth 4.5 million euros as a result of the non-compliance of a friendly game that was part of the contract as well, according to Eldesmarque.
The clause in the contract stated that the Blaugrana and the Brazilian club Santos must play two friendlies and in both of them the Parisian winger must feature.
However, only one of the two friendlies that were agreed on between both the teams has been played. The Blaugrana still have not played the second agreed friendly that was part of the contract.
The only friendly was played in 2013, The Joan Gamper Trophy which saw the Blaugrana wipe out the Brazilian team by 8 goals to nil.
The first time the Catalans were sued for breaking their clause was in 2017 when Neymar signed for the Parisian team Paris Saint-Germain. Santos then realised that it is impossible now to meet the conditions of the contract. The former Barcelona winger sent the Blaugrana a letter suing them but Barca did not respond. Barca’s negligence towards this matter has now lead Santos to file a lawsuit against the club, according to Eldesmarque.
