Barcelona considers signing Bayern Munich’s Austrian left-back David Alaba as a replacement for Jordi Alba who is in the twilight years of his career.

Bayern Munich’s world-class left-back David Alaba is considered to be one of the bargains of the upcoming summer transfer market in the 2020-21 season. The Austrian international left-back has decided to leave Bayern Munich, a club in which the Austrian has served for a decade at a world-class level and was also considered to be one of the world’s best-left backs at his prime.

More from Everything Barca

The 27-year-old Bayern Munich left-back is no longer at his best and has declined over the years which is quite evident as Alphonso Davies starts over him. The Austrian left-back fell down the pecking order in the starting 11 of Bayern Munich after a series of repeated injuries that had a great impact on his playing ability.

His longlist of injuries has shortened the amount of game time he gets every season. Surprisingly Alphonso Davies has overtaken David Alaba as the first choice left-back at the Allianz Arena, leaving the Austrian with barely any minutes under his belt in the Bavarian jersey.

The Austrian international has not shied away from expressing his disappointment and now has the opportunity to find his spark again at another club.

David Alaba is also sick and tired of the false promises that have been fed to fed to him over the years at Bayern Munich by the board. The board promised him that the new Bayern Munich would be a revolutionary winning team that would also aspire to win the Champions League, according to Don Balon. However, that has not been the case for Bayern Munich at the European stage.

The Austrian International has declared that he will not renew his contract with the Bavarian club that runs out in the summer of 2021, according to Don Balon.

David Alaba’s main intention was to make most of the opportunity at Real Madrid after Marcelo fell down the pecking order under Santiago Solari. The Austrian offered himself to Real Madrid and informed the Los Blancos that the Bavarians would only charge a sum worth 60 million euros for the procurement of his services, according to Don Balon.

Thee Bayern Munich defender was frustrated after he patiently waited for a call from the Bernabeu which unfortunately never arrived, according to Don Balon.

Barcelona is well aware that their Spanish left-back is in the final twilight years of his career and that it is high time that a world-class replacement is found rather than giving the young inexperienced Junior Fipro a first-team role.

Josep Maria Bartomeu has David Alaba on the list of the potential summer targets for Barcelona in the summer of 2020-21.

Should Barcelona consider signing David Alaba for 60 million euros or should Firpo be given the first-team role?
