Barcelona have had a big headache with Ousmane Dembele and over 100 million euros have arguably gone down the drain with the player’s signing.

Barcelona announced on Thursday that they had reached an agreement with Leganes to sign Martin Braithwaite after being allowed to bring in a player out of the transfer window to replace Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman is out for six months and has lowered Barca’s options in attack, but the new arrival will be able to help some of those worries.

Ousmane Dembele does not seem to be having a future at the Camp Nou amidst his most recent injury concerns and could well be offloaded if a good offer comes calling. However, Barca’s biggest problem is that there are not many teams willing to hire him on a permanent deal after he has not been available to play for large parts of the season for them.

El Desmarque has reported that Chelsea could be willing to make a move to land the France international during the summer. The Premier League giants are expected to do some business in the off-season and having already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax Amsterdam, Dembele’s addition should not be ruled out.

Since Eden Hazard left for Real Madrid, the Blues have struggled to attack potently down the left-hand side. Christian Pulisic has not made the desired impact and has been inconsistent, so this could be the perfect opportunity for Dembele to prove his credentials in case he ends up leaving Barcelona for the Stamford Bridge.

With a host of youngsters in their setup, Chelsea are a budding side with not much pressure to perform. The west Londoners have obviously won the Premier League not too long ago, but Frank Lampard and his men are currently novices to realistically challenge next season and so in such an environment, Dembele may make home and gain his quality back.
