Barcelona have identified the next Marc-André ter Stegen in the Premier League with reports claiming an official summer bid is being planned.

Mirror reports that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, an 18-year-old sensation for the price of mere £4 million, as the potential replacement for Marc-André ter Stegen in the future.

The England international is currently on loan with Isthmian League Premier Division side, Worthing Football Club, and has received some ecstatic reviews leading Barca to scout the youngster in two appearances.

Rushworth’s January 2019 move to Premier League side, Brighton, from his local team Halifax town FC saw the youngster secure more minutes with club and country. He was called up for the Euro qualifier with England’s U19 squad against Luxembourg, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in November.

Former FA’s technical director, Dan Ashworth, currently working at Brighton believes that the teenager has a bright future ahead of him. Albion, however, are currently 15th on the Premier League table, just 3 points ahead of the relegation zone.

Coach Graham Potter has a tough job ahead with twelve fixtures remaining including clashes against Arsenal, Liverpool, Wolves and both the Manchester sides.

The Club is currently playing a long-term approach having heavily invested in their youths, thus relegating to the Championship once again will undermine their progress. This will also leave them vulnerable to other European clubs poaching their talented prospects.

Blaugrana are interested in Rushworth and will keep a close eye on his progress until the summer, where they might make an official bid for him. 27-year-old Ter Stegen is the undisputed No. 1 choice with Ignacio Pena, 20, and Neto, 30, playing as a back-up.
