However, Barcelona’s captain was far from wrong, the Catalan team were not at their best at the San Paola stadium. Their performance was not worthy of a win and the Catalans were lucky to get away with a draw and an important away goal that might be the key for the return leg.

After their poor performance in the round of 16 first-leg, it is pretty evident that Barcelona is a team that is far from being champions. Although Messi did say that the team was in no condition to win the Champions League as of yet, the number 10 himself has not been in fine form in the knockout stages of the Champions League for a long time.

Lionel Messi was one of the worst players on the pitch for Barcelona after he was the most disposed player on the ground and also racked up a yellow card from the referee, leaving him with a 6.9 rating.

The Blaugrana do have a few unworthy players who do not have the caliber to wear the Barca jersey and to set foot onto the Camp Nou. Lionel Messi did name 4 players that should not play for Barcelona, according to Don Balon.

Starting from their defence, first in the list would be Junior Firpo, according to Don Balon. The former Real Betis played joined Barca this summer as a potential long term replacement for Jordi Alba who is struggling with his fitness. The former Real Betis left-back has not shown any signs of potential ever since he joined the club. The left-back looks timid and shy when he was the ball which leads to unnecessary back passes and flawed decisions.

Another player on the list from the defence is Samuel Umtiti, according to Don Balon. The French international was once a rock in the defence, he was fast and was extremely strong yet confident with the ball. However, nothing is left of the French Center back and his best days are left way behind him.

The last player was Artur Vidal, the former Bayern Munich man did nothing on the field apart from picking up a red card that will the Chile international in the stands during the return leg at the Camp Nou.
