Barcelona set their eyes on two-time Premier League winner

Barcelona has considered signing a multiple-time Premier League winner as a long term replacement of Gerard Pique, who is now 33 years old.

As FC Barcelona continue their operation in search of a long term replacement for Gerard Pique. Jean Clair Todibo is still coming up the ranks and has a long way to go, meanwhile, Dayot Upamecano was considered as an ideal replacement but his expensive price tag is an issue for the board of Barca.

Barca’s technical director Eric Abidal has suggested going for an unusual player who is not on the list of targets for the summer at the moment. The player who Eric Abidal seems interested in is Kurt Zouma, the 25-year old French International was once compared with his national teammate Raphael Varane, according to Don Balon.

The 25-year old is a solid defender and can play on either of the two central positions with ease. His game also resembles that of strong defenders such as Thiago Silva and the Chelsea star has immense confidence on his feet while distributing the ball. He has also maintained a pass accuracy of 87% this season in the Premier League, his style of play is something Setien would benefit from if he can pair him with Pique or Lenglet.

Chelsea is not asking much for their defender rather than a mere 45 million euros for a player with a lot of experience in the highest European level as a defender, according to Don Balon. His tall stature standing 6 feet 3 inches tall can provide a the Blaugrana a lot of potential in aerial duels and set pieces, an area in which Barca suffer from.
