After Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele was sidelined for the entire season, La Liga permitted Barca to buy an emergency backup forward to reinforce their injury-stricken squad.
Although, technically Martin Braithwaite was brought in only as a short term solution to counter the injury crisis at the club. The Blaugrana directors have noticed a sublime talent from the Netherlands who plays in the Eredivisie league.
The young talent from the Eredivise league is Donyell Malen. He managed to score 17 goals and 9 assists in 25 matches before being operated on his knee due to an injury he sustained. The Centre forward was recommended to Barcelona as one of the best promises that the PSV Eindhoven have made in a long time. The 21 years old Dutch international has a sprinters acceleration along with nimble-footed dribbling skills.
Barcelona’s captain Lionel Messi has vetoed the possible move of the Dutch player, according to Don Balon. Paris Saint-Germain now considers signing the Dutch sensation as the player is being sold for an affordable price.
The two reasons why Barcelona pulled the switch for the PSV Eindhoven player, one was Messi doubted the players quality on whether he could contribute to the team as the player lacks experience, and the other is the player’s agent Mino Raiola who has a strained relationship with the club, according to Don Balon.
Now that Barcelona has stepped out of the race, Paris Saint-Germain plans on offering 50 million euros to close the deal and sign the player. The Parisians will make room for the player by either selling Cavani or losing out Icardi who is on loan from Inter. Donyell Malen most probably is the new reinforcement of the new PSG project that is chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Barcelona will now wait to evaluate over their other available options until the summer.
