Luis Suarez candidly expressed his opinions in his recent interview about how he pleaded the Barcelona board to sign a young striker and that his plea was not taken seriously

Barcelona’s talismanic forward has revealed in his recent interview about what would he have done if he was made a technical director of Barcelona during these last few months of turmoil at the Camp Nou. The very fact that such a question was brought about during the interview speaks about how deep the club and the board are in dangerous waters.

The Uruguayan spoke candidly about the issues at the club and also stated that he had informed the club to sign a young number 9 as there is no other alternative for the veteran Luis Suarez, according to Don Balon.

The 33-year-old striker has experienced a few issues with his fitness over the years. Unfortunately, the former Liverpool striker had to endure surgery in order to treat his injury that was sustained on the right meniscus almost two months ago.

Suarez’s injury did not ring any bells at the Barcelona board about the lack of players upfront and the club only decided to act once Dembele got injured and the winter transfer market closed.

The former Liverpool star’s favorite alternative is the Argentine striker, Lautaro Martinez, according to Suarez he is the only footballer that resembles his playing style and would fit like a glove in the squad.

During his interview, the player also said that he asked the thousand times to sign a young forward so that he can train and help the player settle into the club and slowly fill in his boots as the main striker at the club, according to Don Balon.

However, Barca’s technical director Eric Abidal turned a deaf ear towards Suarez’s plea and instead chose not to bother.
