Barcelona are still optimistic about bringing Kylian Mbappe to the Camp Nou even though all signs point towards the player heading to Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain’s mercurial genius Kylian Mbappe promises to develop into one of the best goal-scorers that the footballing world has ever seen. The France international is already on track to knock Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi off their perch in terms of records, and at 21, a bright career awaits him.

More from Everything Barca

Kylian Mbappe moving to Real Madrid has looked like an inevitability since the last couple of months. Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez confessing to their obsessions of wanting to land the World Cup winner only went on to fuel the news that Mbappe would become the Whites’ largely anticipated galactic signing sooner or later.

While Real Madrid are interested in filling Cristiano Ronaldo’s void by picking up Mbappe from Paris, Barcelona have also shown clear and keen interest in the forward. The Blaugrana are seeking to replace Lionel Messi soon and looking at the options available in the market, there seems to be nobody better than Mbappe under candidacy.

Don Balon has claimed that Barca are devising an arrangement to sign the former Monaco ace despite being aware of the fact that Real Madrid are frontrunners for his signatures by a long way. Barcelona are anyway a club on a downward spiral, so seeing their potential Messi successor join Real Madrid would be a fatal blow to their future ambitions.

Barcelona are plotting a contract that would see Kylian Mbappe become the world’s highest paid player and get a salary equivalent to Lionel Messi right from his signing. While the Blaugrana have not much funds to bring the Frenchman in, there is optimism within the offices that they will be able to make some big sales and spend 300 million euros for him.

Philippe Coutinho is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga giants have an option to permanently sign the Brazil international for 120 million euros. In spite of the Bavarians not showing much interest in bringing in Coutinho on a long-term basis, Barca are hoping that they can get rid of him for something near 80 million euros.

Apart from Philippe Coutinho, Barca’s French duo of Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele is also likely to be shown the door. Additionally, the Catalans would not refrain from making other minor sales such as those of Marc Cucurella, Carles Alena and Rafinha who already have one foot away from the Camp Nou due to their respective and ongoing loan spells.
