Lionel Messi rejects Barcelona’s approach for Manchester City’s best player

Lionel Messi was against the idea of signing the Premier League’s best winger after the Catalan club received an offer from the player’s agent for a possible move

Fc Barcelona had the golden opportunity to sign one of the world’s best wingers from the Premier League before the arrival of the 2018 World Cup winner from Atletico Madrid. The Catalans received an offer from Raheem Sterling’s agent that claimed a 185-million-euro transfer fee would suffice for a possible move in the summer. However, Lionel Messi was against the possible idea of signing the former Liverpool star, as he was eagerly waiting for Neymar to return from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Don Balon

Raheem Sterling helped the Citizens in securing three points against Real Madrid and two away important goals after a clumsy tackle on Sterling who was clear on goal in the 83rd minute of the game. With only 17 mins of game time, Sterling was the game changer along with Kevin De Bruyne against the Los Blancos.

The Brazilian winger was also convinced that he could sign for Barca, however, everything fell apart when Barca announced that they had officially signed Antoine Griezmann from their rivals Atletico Madrid.
Pep Guardiola admires Raheem Sterling and he would not let his winger leave the Ethiad Stadium at any cost. This season Sterling already has 11 goals in 22 Premier League starts and has progressed as one of the world’s best wingers.
