What Antoine Griezmann must do to improve at Barcelona
Antoine Griezmann has struggled to adapt at Barcelona, despite the latest injury to Luis Suarez, that allowed him to play a more flexible position.
Antoine Griezmann’s former youth coach at Real Sociedad, Meho Kodro, who has formally played for Real Sociedad and Barcelona himself, has given his opinion on the Frenchman’s struggling first season at Barcelona.

The world cup winner was a key part of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid but has been struggling to bring the same Griezmann at Barca, with many now wondering if the French international should be sold during the summer transfer window to bring in the likes of Lautaro Martinez or Neymar.
Meho Kodro spoke on Spanish radio Cadena SER and suggested that Antoine must adapt to Blaugrana, where the game revolves around captain Lionel Messi.
"“I was sincerely expecting a little more from him. I think he is a player who can give more and at Atlético Madrid, I don’t know why but he was giving a bit more,” He said“Barcelona is always complicated, their way of playing is different and I imagine that he is still in that phase of adaptation. He is not doing everything bad, but, from knowing him, he can give more.”Source AS"
Many hoped to see an Atletico Madrid Griezmann after the latest injury to Uruguayan Luis Suarez, as that would give him more freedom upfront. Kodro believes that Griezmann is struggling due to the restrictions to his movements at Barca, compared to that of his playing days at Atletico and Real Sociedad, which could be due to the freedom of movement Messi has at the Nou Camp.
"“He can play on the outside and or the inside; he is a player who needs to have a lot of freedom in his game. At both Real and Atlético he had a lot of freedom of movement,” Kodro continued“I see it from the outside and it is very easy to have an opinion but when you have Messi next to you: everything revolves around Messi and you have to adapt to that situation. I imagine he will have all the freedom of movement but having Messi there is, in itself, going to determine things.”"
Meho insisted that there is no internal problems between the two and that it is the matter of feeling comfortable around the star Argentine in order to improve his gameplay,
"“I think Messi passes the ball to him and I don’t think there’s a problem there. When I say that Messi influences, I mean that when you have a player of that size, psychologically he does impose. Many times the team around him has it in the head,” Kodro concluded.Source"
Griezmann and Messi have both been struggling to link with each other, but rare occasions of magic have been seen when the two do find that connection.
