Barcelona offer Lionel Messi an outrageous contract to keep him at bay
The Barcelona board has prepared a new contract offer to make Lionel Messi the world’s highest-paid footballer by a huge margin.
Barcelona has been heavily reliant on Lionel Messi and Marc Andre Ter Stegen over the past few seasons. Both the players have pulled off spectacular performances to bail the club out under difficult circumstances. However, the dependence on Lionel Messi has become a toxic relationship at the club currently.

The Captain is well aware that Barca needs him more than he needs the club and although the club has considered searching for a replacement for Lionel Messi there seems to be no potential candidate who could fill his role as of yet. This leaves the club with no other option but to satisfy their Captain’s demand to keep him at the club at whatever cost
Although the club’s all-time top scorer is bounded to stay at the Camp Nou till June 2021 according to his contract, there seems to be a special clause that permits him to leave Barca during the summer if he prefers to seek fortune elsewhere.
While on an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Leo Messi repeatedly stated that he wants to continue his legacy at the Camp Nou and that his family has no intention of leaving the city as they have spent several years there.

El Desmarque claims that Barca would offer Leo Messi a new contract that would tie the player down till June 2023 with a 50 million euro per season wage offer.
