Lionel Messi and the Barcelona board consider signing Atletico Madrid’s star player after his incredible performance against Liverpool.

The performance by the Atletico Madrid’s players at the Anfield had impressed Lionel Messi and the Barcelona board, who have considered a signing one of the many star performers from that night.

The former reigning European champions were sent crashing out at their home ground after Diego Simeone pulled off yet another masterclass in the return leg. Simeone is a man of character and his players prove that by always putting in an extra shift for their manager and the club every time they set foot on the pitch.

Thomas Partey was exceptional as he secured a 7.9 rating and recovered the ball numerous times for Atletico and barely ever lost the ball. The African international was the brain and the workhorse for his team against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Ever since Rodri left Madrid to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Thomas Partey has become a crucial figure under Diego Pablo Simeone. Atletico Madrid plans to improve the Ghana international’s contract and raise his 50 million euros release clause to a better figure as many teams have shown interest in signing the player.

Don Balon claims that Barcelona is the favorites to sign the player as they have advanced their negotiations with Thomas and his agent. The Blaugrana hope to fill in the gap of Arturo Vidal who may leave next season by bringing in Partey and to reduce the cost, they will offer Ivan Rakitic as well.
