The midfield at Barca seems to be a serious issue that needs to be solved immediately. Ivan Rakitic has fallen out with the squad and the board and now wants a move to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus or his former club Sevilla. Arthur Melo has lost his place in the squad due to his irregular lifestyle that might hamper his future at the club unless he turns a new leaf next season.
Philippe Coutinho’s future is at stake as well, Bayern Munich is least interested in paying the 120 million clause to sign the Brazilian and the Catalan club do not want their record signing either, which leaves the former Liverpool star in no man’s land. Sergio Busquets would be 32 next season and is currently going through a rough patch with his fitness.
Quique Setien has made it a priority to reinforce the midfield with the signing of a central defensive midfielder who does not have the cliche Barca style of play attributes.
A substitute for Arturo Vidal will be signed next season as Antonio Contes Inter Milan and Sarri’s Juventus have shown interest in signing the Chilean star. At the Camp Nou, the club is more than happy to let their Chilean international leave as long as the offer is about 25 million euros or more.
The player that Setien considers in Leicester City’s star man Wilfred Ndidi, according to Don Balon. He is the engine of Brendan Rogers team, who is currently third on the Premier League table and may qualify for the Champions League next season. At the age of 23, Ndidi has already established himself as the best defensive midfielder in England because of his physical strength, vision and high football intelligence.
Barcelona is ready to go all out to sign the player and believe that he could be the next Yaya Toure. The player would cost the Catalan club only 35 million euros and Setien wants him no matter what.
