Barcelona has considered signing a player from arch-rivals Real Madrid to strengthen their squad for the next season.

As almost all football competitions have come to a halt because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 in several nations, most football clubs have used this opportunity to set agendas to improve their squad for the upcoming season of 2020-21, including Barcelona.

The Catalans have never suffered from such a lack of depth in recent times and in reality even the secondary role footballers of the club lack consistency and have failed to perform when given the opportunity to do so. The club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu has considered signing a player from arch-rivals Real Madrid to overcome the lack of squad depth. The signing that the Catalans have prepared has come out of the blue and has surprised several officials at the Camp Nou and Santiago Bernabeu.

The current Barca team faces a serious injury crisis and the left flank seems to be an underperforming department at the club. Jordi Alba’s poor muscular conditioning as hindered his season due to injuries and the secondary option Junior Firpo still continues to live his hedonistic lifestyle without focusing on football.

The President of Barcelona and his team of officials have considered signing Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid who is currently on loan at Sevilla under former Los Blancos and the Spanish national team manager Julen Lopetegui Argote, according to Don Balon.

.The Spanish left-back currently on loan was deployed as a first-choice left-back for the Whites under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, both the former Real Madrid manager’s preferred Reguilon over the Brazilian left-back Marcelo.

The question that arises is that would Florentino Perez want Sergio Reguilon back as they have several options on the left flank such as Ferland Mendy, Marcelo and the versatile fullback Hakimi who is on loan in Germany.

Josep Maria Bartomeu will use all his means to convince the Real Madrid Youth Academy player to sign for Barcelona next season. It may not be an easy operation for the Catalans but in football nothing is impossible.
