Barcelona must sell players in order to raise funds for summer signings and Inter Milan have shown interest in one of their fullbacks.

Barcelona are preparing for a busy offseason, whenever that may be, both in signings and offloading certain players. They want to give manager Quique Setién the best possible chance of succeeding.

Aside from the obvious like Lionel Mess, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and other select few, no one is off the table.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Inter Milan are said to be interested in Barcelona’s right-back Nelson Semedo.

The Catalans no longer consider Semedo as untouchable and are willing to listen to offer for him.

The Portuguese right-back has yet to establish himself as first-choice but seems to be more trusted under Setién than Ernesto Valverde.

The former Barcelona manager alternated between him and Sergi Roberto with the Masia product being preferred in the higher-profile matches.

Losing Semedo would be a significant loss as the Catalans don’t have a natural replacement. However, they’ve also been presented with an opportunity.

If Inter’s interest in Semedo is genuine, then the Catalans can use it to their advantage.

Their interest in Inter’s Lautaro Martinez is well-documented and could use Semedo as a way for the Italian giants to lower their asking price on the Argentine striker.

Semedo arrived at the club back in 2017 for €25 million from Benfica. The expectation when he was signed was that he would provide something similar to Dani Alves. While Semedo has pace and is a decent defender, he’s yet to fully provide much on attack.

That is one of the reasons why Sergi Roberto keeps playing at that spot despite his deficiencies. His understanding with the rest of the team is still valuable.

If Inter remain steadfast that they only want cash for Martinez, then logically Barcelona are going to want to recuperate what they paid for Semedo two seasons ago. If he is sold, however, the club are going to find themselves needing to add another player to their transfer wish list.
