Lionel Messi’s worst nightmare from Anfield prefers signing for Barcelona rather than Real Madrid if the opportunity ever arises.
Barcelona was sent crashing out of the Champions League in the 2018/19 season after Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool pulled off the unthinkable when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s quick corner settled the game. The Premier League’s eventual champions went on to play Tottenham Hotspur in the final and the Red’s clinched their sixth Champions League title at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in the city of Madrid.

Liverpool’s Champions League quest and their campaign in the Premier League brought a lot of limelight towards Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was and maybe still is considered as one of the best young fullbacks in the world. Some would argue saying Kimmich or Achraf Hakimi are better players, but after all, it is down to personal preference.
The English talent made his way through the Liverpool youth team and was then molded by Jurgen Klopp into the world-class attacking fullback that he is currently. Ever since his debut for the Merseyside club, the 21-year-old has worked tremendously hard for the starting eleven spot that belongs to him now. With every passing season, his progression has been better than most players in the squad.
Although defensively he might be poor, his pace makes up for it to track back down the wing when caught out of position. Offensively, the English talent has the potential to dethrone Dani Alves as the best-attacking fullback because of his shockingly accurate pinpoint crosses from the side-line and set pieces.
Trent Alexander-Arnold already has 14 assists this season which is outrageous and at the tender age of 21, many pundits have tipped him off to be the next Liverpool captain like Steven Gerrard. Liverpool could only hope that their right-back stays at the club till the end of his career, however, Don Balon claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid have considered signing the player.
Barcelona is on the hunt to sign a potential replacement for Dani Alves, who left the club after the 2015/16 season for Juventus. Although Trent Alexander Arnold is not half as good as Dani Alves was in defense, the Liverpool man could offer a lot more in the attack than the current options that Setien has it his disposal and certainly provides for better choice than the Catalans’ existing names in Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto.
The Premier League’s best right-back in his last interview stated that he would prefer moving to the Camp Nou over the Santiago Bernabeu if such a circumstance ever rises. Liverpool has secured the player until 2024, however, in football, nothing is guaranteed.
