Gabriel Martinelli can be considered as one of the most prominent future stars of modern-day football. The 18-year-old striker has played a crucial role in stabilizing Arsenal’s season which has put him on the radar of many big European clubs. Barcelona should opt to sign the young forward and bring him to the Camp Nou in the next transfer window as he can be a great replacement for Luis Suarez.
The Brazilian is notably versatile and can operate on the wings as well as through the middle as a central forward. After joining the Gunners, Gabriel Martinelli has had a lot of pressure to fill in the void of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as in when the duo would be unfit to play or be suspended. In addition to filling the duo’s void he was able to bag himself regular features in most of the Europa League fixtures for the Gunners.
The 18-year-old has been extremely mature and has lived up to the fans expectations by scoring 10 goals across all competitions this season. Gabriel Martinelli’s most prominent goal scored was against Chelsea in which the Brazilian dribbled with the ball for 70 yards before calmly placing his shot into the back of the net.
A move away from the Emirates Stadium could be a great opportunity for the Brazilian superstar. Arsenal has failed to qualify for the Champions League this season and is struggling to qualify for the Europa League. Gabriel Martinelli should sign for a club which qualifies for the Champions League more regularly as well as gives him adequate chances to start in games.
Barcelona should sign the forward as a long term replacement for Luis Suarez. Signing the player over the next transfer window will help him gel with other future stars such as Ansu Fati and Arthur Melo who are going to be prominent features for the Spanish giants for many seasons to follow.
Another benefit of signing the Brazilian in the upcoming transfer window is to give him sufficient time to acquire knowledge, strength and integrity from players such as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez before they reach the end of their careers.
Gabriel Martinelli has a contract with Arsenal until 2024 but rejecting advances from a club of the Blaugranes’ calibre would be a difficult ask of the youngster.
