Martin Braithwaite was the temporary replacement for Suarez who joined last month for £15 million. The Dane however, has been largely unimpressive.

As per The Sun, West Ham United are looking to snap up the forward in a bid to boost their attacking prowess. The former Middlesbrough man is expected to leave as well.

Braithwaite was signed as a temporary replacement for Luis Suarez who had been ruled out for 5 months before the suspension and the 28 year-old hasn’t done justice to his price tag.

It should be noted that Martin was the first signing in accordance with the Spanish rule which allows teams to land players outside of the window in order to replace the existing injured player(s).

Both of the first choice attackers in Dembele and Suarez are out injured and they are expected to come back once the league suspension ends. This would automatically mean that Martin would go down as surplus and Barcelona will want to get rid of him, considering the financial hits they have suffered in recent times.

West Ham are currently 16th in the PL and they will look to avoid relegation as the league progresses and will target a decent finish. The Hammers seem to be desperate a fresh injection of pace into their attack and this deal is likely to go through.

Barcelona made a mistake in the first place by signing someone like Martin Braithwaite who hasn’t quite established himself as much as he’d like to, in Europe. Barcelona should have gone for someone who they’d view as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez who is currently enjoying his numbered days at the club. His waning form and age factor mean that he’s close to an exit and the only question is when.

Barcelona should go ahead with the deal should a suitable offer arrive as Martin isn’t that young as the club would like and he hasn’t lived up to the expectations as well. Barcelona need to decide quickly if they are looking to land someone like Martinez.
