It is believed that Barcelona star Nelson Semedo has been offered an ultimatum by the club of extending his contract or leaving.

As per Forbes, Barcelona are ready to part ways with Semedo if he doesn’t extend his contract with the club. Barcelona could be seen letting the defender go for a sum of £44 million.

Semedo has been good for the La Liga giants in recent times and has been one of the top performers this season. Under Valverde, Semedo excelled at the right back position but had to take over as a left back when Alba got injured.

The Portuguese soon lost his place to Roberto but won it back on account of the latter suffering regular injuries and the 22 year-old hasn’t looked back since then.

The full back is expected to extend his contract but if he doesn’t, he could be well on his way to Real Betis in exchange of Emerson who has been the defensive find of the season. This deal could be seen taking place on account of the healthy relationships between the two clubs.

It is reported that the sporting director of the club Eric Abidal met with Semedo’s agent in Dubai in recent times to talk about the shock transfer of the defender.

The Blaugrana should hold on to Semedo as he could well be on his way to becoming one of the top defenders in Europe if he has the right manager. Not to mention, he is being circled by the likes of giants such as Man City, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

He could also be a part of the rumoured swap deal involving Neymar. Barca should prioritise keeping their in-form players in their shed. Barcelona need to have some solid policies in place if they want to return to their best again.
