Barcelona’s futuristic signing set to depart in the summer

  Quique Setine was appointed as the manager of Barcelona in January  2020. After joining the club the manager hasn’t been satisfied with the defence in the Camp Nou and is adamant to make some changes over the summer transfer window.

According to the Don Balon, Junior Firpo is one of the players that hasn’t impressed Quique Setien and been listed as one of the players to depart from Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window.

The 23-year-old was bought by the Spanish giants for around 16 million euros in 2019 from Real Betis but hasn’t lived up to the standard of Barcelona. Junior Firpo has failed to impress the staff and management that he is an ideal fit for the long-serving club legend Jordi Alba.

One of the foremost criticism that the young defender is associated with is that he’s not daring enough to play for the club and seems extremely fearful both in training and while playing in matches for the club.

According to the Sun, The Italian trio of Roma, Napoli and Torino believe that the young defender has great potential and have kept him on their radar as a potential signing over the next transfer window. The estimated price set by Barca for this transfer could be around 18 million euros. Joining one of these Italian clubs could help revive the young defender’s career and put him back on track to develop to his optimum potential.

Junior Firpo could also be included in the deal to sign Neymar Jr. from Paris Saint Germain who are actively looking for a left-back in the next transfer window. The Spanish giants are determined to bring the Brazilian playmaker back to the Camp Nou but aren’t equipped to pay the price of this transfer and are hoping that the young defender can help in influencing PSG’s decision.

Another transfer which could contain Junior Firpo is of the inform marksman Lautaro Martinez. The young Argentinian striker has been linked with a transfer to Barca since the start of the season. The Spanish giants are in search of finding a long term replacement for their striker Luis Suarez and have identified the young 22 year old striker as an ideal candidate to fit this role.

It will be interesting to see if either PSG or Inter Milan will be influenced by Barcelona adding Junior Firpo to their potential transfer deals.
