Barcelona have taken a major step towards re-building their squad ahead of next season by agreeing to a deal with one of Lionel Messi’s recommended players.

Barcelona are expected to have a productive summer as far as transfers are concerned. Due to a potential slump in finances as a result of suspended football activities across the globe, there may not be as many players coming in or going out as the club would’ve liked, but the board has to make an impact signing to be in contention for next year’s elections.

Neymar is still the Catalans’ prime target as they attempt to re-sign him from Paris Saint-Germain. However, the Brazil international has a transfer value of over 200 million euros and that may be a price tag that’s beyond Barca’s reach. Moreover, he seems to be better settled at the Parc des Princes now and may end up staying if Mbappe is to leave.

Lautaro Martinez is the second attacker that was on the radar of the Blaugrana and the Argentine forward’s signing is looking like a much realistic prospect than that of Barcelona’s former player. With that being said, Inter Milan’s lethal marksman himself is also keen on a move to the Camp Nou after speaking to Lionel Messi.

Don Balon has reported that the La Liga giants have now agreed to personal terms with their prime target. Martinez initially rejected the club’s offer of an annual salary of six million euros, but the negotiations went on before both parties agreed to a deal up until June 2025 which would see the player earning nine million euros per year.

Inter Milan have referred Barca to Martinez’s release clause of 111 million euros and are not willing to hear an offer below that. While the defending Spanish champions did make an attempt to lower the cash price by offering several of their outcasts in exchange, Antonio Conte’s side made it clear that they will accept only monetary advances.
