The Catalan club had several transfer targets but the two most important players they wanted to sign for the next season was Neymar Junior from Paris Saint-Germain and Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.

To sign such superstars, the club considered to sell a few players to generate revenue and to make space in the team. Josep Maria Bartomeu considered selling off his lucrative signing Philippe Coutinho who was signed for 160 million euros as the most expensive player in the club’s history under Bartomeu’s tenure as manager.

The Brazilian’s loan move to Bayern Munich is on the verge of coming to an end and the Bavarian club has shown no interest in paying the 120 million purchase option. Barcelona countered the purchase option by reducing it 80 million, however, Bayern Munich rejects the counter-offer as well.

Philippe Coutinho will return to Camp Nou next season and the board has already started looking for another club where they could load off their flop signing along with his massive 12 million euro per month salary.

Manchester United and Chelsea seem to be the favorites to sign the former talismanic Liverpool midfielder. However, neither Manchester United or Chelsea are willing to pay over 80 million for the Brazilian.

In the recent few months, Barca has shown interest in signing Tanguy Ndombele from Jose Mourinho’s Spurs to reinforce their midfield and the footballer himself is looking for Champions League football next season.

El Desmarque claims that Barcelona is prepared to offer Philippe Coutinho in exchange for Tanguy Ndombele.
