The board of Barcelona has fallen out with its new manager Quique Setien over an argument about the future of the French central defender.

Quique Setien was appointed as the head coach of Barcelona after Ernesto Valverde was sacked to bring back the total football style of play that was lost for years in the Catalan club.

However, Quique Setiens methods and tactics have not yet lived up to everyone’s expectations and certain players doubt whether the Cantabrian is the correct man to lead the club back to their glorious days.

The former Real Betis manager has received heavy criticism of favoring the French defender Samuel Umtiti over Clement Lenglet in important games although the Umtiti has struggled with his fitness and form throughout the season. The last time Samuel Umtiti performed admirably was in the 2018 World Cup in Russia where France was crowned as World Champions.

The board of Barca has shortlisted Samuel Umtiti along with the other players they plan to load off during the summer and the French defender’s inclusion was carried out against Quique Setiens will. The Cantabrian manager expressed his disappointment at the possible departure of the French Defender, however, the board has already made their mind, according to Don Balon.

The club plan to shell out 60 million euros from the player or offer him in exchange for either the Neymar Junior operation or the Lautaro Martinez operation.

The board will offer the French defender along with his compatriot Ousmane Dembele for the return of Neymar Junior or they would offer the defender along with Arturo Vidal or Ivan Rakitic for Lautaro Martinez.
