Barcelona have to raise funds for their ambitious summer re-build and could’ve gotten a major breakthrough in their favour.

Barcelona are likely to have a productive summer as far as the transfer market is concerned. Of course, Lautaro Martinez and Neymar are the club’s most important targets but there may be some more signings in the shapes of a right back, left back and central defender. However, in order to spend, the Catalans are obliged to sell and raise some cash.

More from Everything Barca

Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti are the three players most likely to leave the Camp Nou during the off-season. Neither of Barca’s big-money signings have impressed over the last few years and it is imperative that they leave from the club’s point of view. Having said that, none of them are wanted by other clubs to Barcelona’s misfortune.

Don Balon has reported that the Blaugrana have finally found a buyer for Philippe Coutinho’s services and Lionel Messi has approved the sale. Despite being on loan at Bayern Munich and having an option of being purchased for 120 million euros at the end of this season, Chelsea have shown more interest than the Bavarians.

Frank Lampard’s side is expected to undergo a major revamp and Coutinho’s move will be a great one for the English giants who have already signed Hakim Ziyech to add potion to their front line. The Blues are willing to offer 80 million euros for the ex-Liverpool winger, a fairly reasonable price being paid for an absolute flop at the Camp Nou.

Jadon Sancho was initially the primary choice at the Stamford Bridge, but the west Londoners are pragmatic about their finances and will not be able to compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United for the Borussia Dortmund superstar’s signatures. Should they sign the Brazil international, it will be a win-win situation for both parties.

Chelsea is currently a club that’s free from major expectations given that they lost a few crucial players in the last few years and are reliant on a younger crop of players. Nevertheless, they are considered a Premier League royalty and will be able to pay Coutinho well who will not have as much pressure to perform as he would at Barca or Bayern.
