More from Everything Barca

According to the Don Balon, The Argentinian international has demanded Barcelona to make Neymar their primary transfer target in the next transfer window. Messi has been frustrated as the club haven’t given in to his demands and have decided to sign Jonathan David.

Jonathan David is a 20-year old who plays for Gent in the Belgium First Division A. The Canadian superstar has scored 37 domestic goals in the last two seasons. Internationally he has scored 11 goals in 12 appearances.

This goal-scoring record has put young finisher on the radar of many prominent clubs such as Liverpool, Everton and Monaco. Barcelona have been proactive and surpassed their competition as the club president has confirmed that the young Canadian will be joining the Spanish giants for 25 million euros in the upcoming transfer window.

The transfer hasn’t been appreciated by many including the lights of Messi who feels that the club’s resources have been wasted. Barcelona possesses many outstanding attacking prospects in the form of Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite. Adding Jonathan David a young inexperienced striker in the mix won’t add any value to the Camp Nou.

Barcelona could have used the transfer budget of 25 million Euros to tighten their leaky defence. The Spanish giants’ backline have conceded 31 goals in 27 games. To add to their misery, Samuel Umtiti is eager to leave Barca and play in the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window which will create a void which will be hard to fill.

It will be interesting to see how the signing of Jonathan David will impact Neymar Jr. and Lautaro Martinez who have been heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona.

Do you think Jonathan David will be a good signing for Barca?
