It is clear that the Catalans have been looking for a suitable replacement for Gerard Pique who is 33 at the moment. Carlos is 27 at the moment and is a good choice to replace Pique with someone who has got a decent amount of experience.
The Brazilian has made 31 appearances for Sevilla since his arrival from Nantes last year for £18 million, last year. He has impressed many top clubs with his consistent performances and it should be noted that apart from the Blaugrana and the Reds, Atletico Madrid are also said to be keeping a close eye on the defender.
Barcelona do need some reinforcement at the back of the field which has lacked quality throughout the season. Samuel Umtiti and his injuries haven’t helped either and the Blaugranes are in need of some stability at the back of the field. Carlos presents with the option of providing that.
Barca need to offload Umtiti as his game time has gone down severely over the past few months owing to his regular injuries. Diego has got a £74 million release clause and the club has been facing a shortage of funds due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Hence, it is absolutely necessary that they gather funds for this transfer and offloading Umtiti is one of the best options available for the same.
