The Cantabrian has not had the opportunity yet to sign a player of his choice since he has taken over the management of Barca. Martin Braithwaite could be considered as his first signing, however, the signing of the Danish footballer was more of a panic signing issued by the board rather than Setien himself.

The former Real Betis manager also faces an uncertain future at the club, as several players doubt whether the 61-year-old is the right man for the job. However, it seems like the Cantabrian will continue as the manager of Barca next season as he has already prepared his first signing, according to Don Balon

With Nelson Semedo being linked to a possible move to Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur, the former Betico manager wants a player who could possibly compete with the versatile Sergi Roberto for the right-back position.

The player that Quique Setien has decided to sign in Emerson Royal from Real Betis, the Brazilian had a brilliant debut season and secured the role of an indisputable starter after his move from Atletico Mineiro.

At the age of 21 years old, the former Atletico Mineiro right-back has already received a call up by Brazil’s head coach Tite. The Betico man is fast and powerful which makes a massive threat when attacking and his physical attributes make it difficult for wingers to get past him as well. Some pundits believe that his style of play resembles that of Dani Alves.
