One of Manchester City’s brightest talents, Joan Cancelo, already feels dejected after signing for the former Premier League champions. The Portuguese international was well settled in Juventus and won every single possible trophy that the Italian team competed in apart from the Champions League.
Apart from being happy and well settled, the Portuguese fullback was an indisputable starter under Massimilano Allegri. However, Joao Cancelo also dreamt of playing in England and winning the coveted Champions League trophy, the player decided the Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City would be the right team for him.
Apart from playing in the Premier League, Manchester City also offered the player a tempting salary and Cristiano Ronaldo had warned his Portuguese compatriot that he would remain as a substitute at the English clue due to the presence of Kyle Walker. However, Cancelo did not pay much heed to Cristiano Ronaldo’s words and after a long personal talk with Pep Guardiola, who promised the player he would get a sufficient number of minutes.
Joao Cancelo now feels let down and has already communicated to his agent Jorge Mendes for a possible transfer next season itself. The ban by UEFA also prevents the English team from participating in any of the European competitions for the next two years. The former Juventus full-back is not one of the players who would be satisfied without Champions League football.
Don Balon claims that the 25-year-old fullback has already offered himself to Barcelona, who are currently in search of a replacement for Nelson Semedo who might leave to join Jose Mourinho at Tottenham next season.
The issue that Barcelona would face to sign Cancelo would be the price tag that Manchester City would demand. The English club would want to make most out of whichever player they sell as they would use that money to increase the wages of their crucial players to stay a the club during this rough period.
Barcelona would have to offer a huge sum if they would want to procure the services of the Portuguese.
