The Catalan board has considered to sell a few of their stars or offer a swap deal to Paris Saint-Germain to reduce the 222 million euro figure. Don Balon claims that one of the players that the board considered to be sold has already received an offer from Manchester United.
Antoine Griezmann was unveiled as Barcelona player at Camp Nou last summer and has struggled to adapt under Ernesto Valverde and Quique Setien, as the former Atletico Madrid player is generally played out of his natural position.
Although it is too early to write off the number 17 as a flop signing, so far the former Atletico Madrid forward has not lived up to the expectations that are demanded by fans and the club because of the heavy price tag he carries.
The signing of the French international was anyway very controversial in the locker room, as most of the heavyweights demanded Neymar Junior in return they received an additional striker who is now forced to play out of position to cover up Neymar’s role. Lionel Messi had also demanded the board to offer the French striker in exchange for a straight swap deal for Neymar Junior.
Manchester United are willing to offer 150 million euros to Barcelona to procure their services of the French international. However, the issue is that Antoine Griezmann has no intention of leaving the club any time soon which would technically reduce the chances of Neymar’s return.
Although the player has already made up his mind on his future, his national teammate Ousmane Dembele has followed his footsteps as well. The former Borussia Dortmund has now decided that he wants to continue at Barca till his contract runs out.
It is now far to say that the return of Neymar Junior can be written off as all the three liabilities of Barcelona have decided to continue at the Camp Nou till their respective contracts expire.
