The Barcelona board is taking actions which suggest that it is in a world that it doesn’t seem to understand and may suffer a gargantuan loss due to it.
Lionel Messi has achieve a God-like status at Barcelona and in all fairness, he is the last person they can afford to keep unhappy from their first-team. The Argentine forward can practically dictate terms and is the only reason why the club’s downward spiral is not steeper. However, Josep Maria Bartomeu has only gone and done the worst.

Don Balon claims that a livid and hapless Lionel Messi is realistically considering a departure from the Camp Nou during this summer. The captain seems to have had enough of the board’s incompetence and doesn’t want to spend the final years of his career playing for a club where things are negatively running and getting worse each day.
In a contractual term that may severely haunt the Blaugrana, Lionel Messi can leave the club for free at the end of the season so for a player who would otherwise command a world-record transfer fee, a dead loss isn’t something what the board would want and more so considering the fact that he is extremely marketable off the pitch and decisive on the field.
As such, things at Barca are not ideal and their financial position is needless to say. With that being talked about, the coronavirus suspensions and curfews have seen all Barca players take a 70% cut in their wages, which is a rather large amount if one looks at the proportionate slack put forth by the likes of Real Madrid or Manchester City, for example.
To make things worse, Josep Maria Bartomeu had to rephase his board of directors after six members resigned over the last week. The president lost his ally in former vice-president Emili Rousaud and the comments which he made to a radio channel have led to the directorial board resorting to legal action which may come at a great financial cost.
While other things may have been controllable at the Camp Nou, taking Emili Rousaud to court may be very expensive and if the club loses the case, they may have to heavily compensate to their ex-vice president. Should that hypothetically happen, Barca’s dreams of signing Lautaro Martinez or Neymar may all but crumple and Messi would have all the more reason to leave.
Do you see Lionel Messi leaving the club of his lifetime after the end of this season?
