Lionel Messi demands the Barcelona board to add several players to the transfer list in order to generate the funds to sign Lautaro Martinez and Neymar

Lionel Messi had made it clear while on an interview with Mundo Deportivo that the current Barcelona squad lacks the quality to compete for the champions league. The Barcelona captain has requested the board to make some major signings that are genuinely needed if the club plans on seriously competing for all the three competitions next season.

More from Everything Barca

Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and Neymar Junior of Paris Saint-Germain are the two main transfer targets that Lionel Messi has requested the board to sign. However, given the club its current financial situation as all leagues have been suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it is highly unlikely that Barca has the financial means to fund either of the moves.

Don Balon claims that the captain has asked the club to sell a few players next season to generate the financial resources required.

Shockingly Marc-Andre Ter Stegen makes the list, Lionel Messi and the Ter Stegen have had their share of personal problems this season and the German feels highly undervalued by his 5 million euro salary, the German international has even considered Paris Saint-Germain’s offer worth 15 million euros per season.

The next player on the list Junior Firpo, the Barca debutant has struggled this season to impress anyone at the club. His poor lifestyle choices along with his inconsistent form have turned a lot of heads at the club, Lionel Messi has certainly lost all his patience with the former Betico man.

Ivan Rakitic has already shown a desire to leave the club as he believes that he is no longer respected or treated the same way he once was in 2015. The Croatian has several offers to consider over the summer and it is only a matter of months before an official confirmation on his departure would be announced.

Arthur Melo was omitted from the list as the Brazilian was given one last opportunity to improve his fitness and change his lifestyle. Ousmane Dembele has made the list as well, the former Borussia Dortmund has exhausted everyone’s patience and it is the ideal time for the club to get rid of their flop before his market value crashes further.

The last to make the list is Philippe Coutinho, the club’s most expensive player will be possibly sold to Frank Lampard’s Chelsea who has offered 70 million for the Brazilian.

If Bartomeu does consider selling so many players to just sign two stars, the club would still face a severe lack of squad depth and that would be worse than what Quique Setien currently faces.
