Nelson Semedo opts to leave Barcelona and join Ronaldo at Juventus

Nelson Semedo has hinted that he wants to leave Barcelona and join his fellow national Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

Barcelona must come up with a replacement for the 26-year-old Portuguese defender in the upcoming transfer window.

The Spanish giants have conceded 31 goals in 27 La Liga games this season and must offload players who can’t provide the side with adequate defensive support.

Semedo joined Barca from Benfica in 2017 for around 30 million euros. His offensive style of play which revolves around his ability to pass and dribble has helped the Spanish giants win the La Liga in the 2017-2018 and the 2018-2019 season as well as helped them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2018-2019 season. Despite the club’s poor defensive record this season, Barca are in a commanding position to win the La Liga title and have a 2 point lead over Real Madrid who currently second on the table.

Nelson Semedo hasn’t been able to play an instrumental role for the Spanish giants this season. He has only been able to provide offensive support for his side but has failed to be effective defensively. His current market value is estimated to be around 32 million euros.

Semedo seems to be interested in this move as it provides him with the opportunity to play attacking football for one of the greatest teams in the world alongside one of the best footballers his country has ever produced. According to the Don Balon, Juventus have offered Barca 30 million euros which amounts to the initial cost that Barca spent on buying the Portuguese defender in 2017.
