It’s a no brainier that the coronavirus pandemic has had a major impact on football and the revenue streams of almost all the clubs.
As per ESPN FC, only three Barcelona players are assured of their spot in the club. This is likely because of the financial setbacks that the club has suffered due to the pandemic. The rest of the players could be used as makeweights or could be sold off. As of the current standing, Lionel Messi, Frenkie de Jong and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are absolutely safe at the club and their respective positions.

Barcelona are in an urgent need of three players involving a defender, and two attackers. Barcelona have been eyeing Lautaro Martinez for quite some time now and his release clause is worth a massive 111 million euros.
Neymar on the other hand has been on the club’s transfer radar ever since he left the club back in 2017. Moreover, the rumours of his return to Camp Nou have been fueled by his unsettled mindset at the Parc des Princes.
Ideally, Barcelona would have liked the option of buying both the players but with the franchise shops and the club museum also hit, they are currently looking at a major loss. Hence, one can expect most of their deals this summer to be of cash plus player or just plain player swap deals.
They might be even tempted to sell off the likes of Samuel Umtiti, Antoine Griezmann, Arturo Vidal,Rafinha who seem to have secured the interest of some big names such as Inter and Paris Saint-Germain. The deal involving PSG and Griezmann could even go all the way as the former are desperate to keep Kylian Mbappe happy at the club and they feel that bringing in a fellow Frenchman might improve his morale.
It actually makes sense as Barcelona are due for a major revamp. The Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho experiments failed big-time and it is about time that the club let go of them. Moreover, the Catalans are in hunt for a new long-term option for Gerard Pique who has lost his flair.
For the time being, all one can do is sit and hope that the global COVID-19 pandemic soon comes to a hault and everyone can get back to their lives. But coming to the Blaugrana, they need to plan and they need to plan well for the future.
