With Arturo Vidal not in Barcelona’s plans, the player appears to not be short on suitors.

No one knows when football is going to return but that is not stopping clubs like Barcelona from preparing for next season. One of their aims for the next transfer window is to sell Arturo Vidal.

The Chilean was rumored with a move away prior to the start of the season but then-manager Ernesto Valverde preferred to keep as he felt he offered the club something different from the rest of the midfielders.

But Vidal still hasn’t played as much as he would have hoped and he’s not been shy about publicly airing his frustrations. A move would likely be the best choice for both sides.

He and Barcelona might get what they want as Mundo Deportivo report that he is drawing interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United.

According to their report, Vidal has already heard the offer from Manchester United and is not convinced. Newcastle may actually be in a better position as they look to restructure the club and bring in Massimiliano Allegri as manager. Allegri was the coach of Juventus when Vidal was there.

Barcelona’s plan with Vidal had been to try to include him in a deal with Inter Milan to lower the price on Lautaro Martinez.

Inter was the team he was linked with both at the start of the season and during the winter transfer window. Like with Allegri, he has a past relationship with Inter manager Antonio Conte who also coached him at Juventus.

With a small-scale clear out possible at the Catalan club, Vidal would be considered surplus to requirements as he does not fit the type of style Quique Setién plays. Considering the other midfielders linked to Barça, more than one needs to be sold to give them or players like Riqui Puig a chance.

The move from Bayern Munich a couple of seasons ago was a surprise but it hasn’t been a total surprise that the move had mixed results. The only thing certain is that Arturo Vidal will be applying his trade away from the Camp Nou next season.
