Barcelona and Juventus would be in for a grand swap deal this summer in what could be a accord for the Catalans more than the Italians.

Barcelona are looking at defensive reinforcements ahead of the next season and will hope to sign a defensive midfielder who can fill-in Sergio Busquets’ gap over time. The Catalans had identified Corentin Tolisso as a potential signing some days ago, but there was no update whatsoever on the Bayern Munich midfielder’s signing.

Don Balon now suggests that the Blaugrana have decided to pursue a swap deal for Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur over the summer. The Uruguay international is a regular for Maurizio Sarri’s side in the domestic as well as continental competitions, getting more minutes ahead of the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey.

Juventus are looking to sign another midfielder this summer, so with Rodrigo Bentancur probably looking for newer challenges having won everything in Italy, Barcelona will look to capitalize. Ivan Rakitic or Arturo Vidal will be offered to the 37-time Serie A champions in a bid to swap Bentancur’s services in the next transfer window.

Rodrigo Bentancur will be an exceptional signing for Barcelona and has many years ahead of him in order to be a worthy successor to Busquets’ credentials. The former Boca Juniors man may not have the ability to play the ball out from the back as well as the La Masia product, but he can chip in with goals and assists to make up for it.

Sergio Busquets has shown over the last couple of years that he is no more an indispensable player and that has been down to the ageing factor. Bentancur has a very reasonable market value of 40 million euros, so a swap deal involving one of the Barca midfielders would be a win-win situation for the La Liga giants as they wouldn’t need to spend cash.
