Barcelona have been targetting Valencia’s Spanish winger with an expiring contract, but risk losing the player to the German side, Borussia Dortmund.

At just 20 years of age, Valencia’s Ferran Torres is reputed to be one of the most promising prospects of Spanish football. His recent performances with Valencia has earned him a spot in Real Madrid and Barcelona’s most wanted list.

The Spaniard’s contract is expiring in June 2021 and his contract negotiations with Mestalla have yet to make any progress despite the club’s attempts to display their desires to extend Ferran’s stay.

Several European giants have since taken the opportunity to persuade the youngster away from Valencia in the coming weeks as Los Che’s coach, Albert Celades, may be forced to sell the young prospect if no contract extension is finalized as they risk not making any financial gains for the inevitable transfer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Juventus have been long term admirers of the star winger but according to Tuttosport, Borrusia Dortmund have now joined the race.

Catalan daily reports that the German side have offered €40 million for Ferran’s services as they look for a replacement for their very own talented youngster, Jadon Sancho, whose future remains uncertain.

The bid, however, has been rejected by Valencia claiming the quoted amount is insufficient. They also continue their efforts to extend the player’s contract by five years.

Meanwhile, Barca are fighting their own wars with the club re-evaluating their priorities for the summer transfer window due to the financial impacts of COVID-19.

While Lautaro Martinez and Neymar remain a priority, the Catalans should not miss this opportunity to grab a talented winger like Ferran Torres, who will certainly prove to be a worthy asset especially considering that his release clause would be roughly half of the asking prices for the likes of Neymar and Lautaro.

Should Barca shift their focus towards Torres?
