Barcelona have decided to save on their finances as they are struggling to cope with the recent crisis, thereby passing up on a crucial signing.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has been incredible for the club since checking in from Liverpool six years ago. With close to 200 goals to his name, the Uruguayan marksman has proved to be a handful for any team that he has faced and been one of the world’s best strikers, perhaps the best, during his time at the Camp Nou.

However, over the last couple of months he has rapidly slowed down and is no more the player he once was. Having said that, the Blaugrana are keen on signing a striker this summer and Lautaro Martinez continues to be their primary target as has been the case since a couple of months now on Lionel Messi’s recommendation.

Inter Milan have been playing massive hardball with the Catalans with regard to Lautaro Martinez and have ditched several proposed swap deals for their lethal forward. The likes of Antoine Griezmann, Nelson Semedo as well as Arturo Vidal have been offered into the deal among others, but to no avail as the Italians seek 111 million euros in cash.

Diario GOL has reported that stagnating negotiations with the Serie A outfit have put the La Liga leaders off and therefore, they will look to sign someone else. Lionel Messi has come up with an extravagant suggestion in the shape of RB Leipzig superstar Timo Werner. The Germany international has been among the continent’s best strikers in recent years.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are thought to be racing for the 24 year old, as will Barca if they agree to what their greatest player has said. The deadly central forward is valued at just 60 million euros and that would definitely be an affordable price for the Blaugrana. Plus, they can offer him a starting berth right from day one, which the Reds or Whites may not.

At the Anfield, Jurgen Klopp may still go with Roberto Firmino down the middle in order to get the best out of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, whereas Zinedine Zidane will also choose to play Karim Benzema as his striker and in all fairness, the Frenchman is a better overall player and contributor than his German counterpart.

On the other hand, Timo Werner would be a solid addition to the Barca roster as he has been more consistent and prominent than Lautaro Martinez since the two have been around. Moreover, he is a cheaper signing and the financially harmed club should try to save whenever it can and this time it may be a win-win situation both, on and off the field.

Do you think Timo Werner would join the Catalans ahead of Liverpool?
