Barcelona has affirmed its desire to offload certain players in the summer transfer window.

More from Everything Barca

Barcelona have planned to offload Philippe Coutinho so that they can generate sufficient funds to sign one of their primary transfer target Neymarover the summer transfer market.

Players such as Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Samuel Umtiti, Nelson Semedo and Junior Firpo have links to transfer away from Barcelona. According to Don Balon, The Spanish giants are also planning to add Philippe Coutinho to this list as the former Liverpool winger is set to return from his loan spell from Bayern Munich at the end of this summer.

Coutinho hasn’t been able to perform at his optimum potential for Barca ever since he joined in 2017. After being able to score at total of 21 goals in 76 games the Catalans decided to send the Brazilian out on loan to Bayern Munich. To add to Coutinho’s misery, his loan spell wasn’t successful as he wasn’t able to perform in Germany either scoring only 9 goals in 32 appearances and is set to return to the Camp Nou after the Bavarians decided to pass up on their option of permanently signing him.

Despite underperforming in the last few seasons and going through a surgery in his right ankle which will keep him on the sideline for weeks Coutinho has a market value of around 60 million euros. Several clubs such as Inter Milan, Liverpool and Chelsea have shown interest in signing the Brazilian superstar. However, as things stand none of these clubs have send any official offers till now.

Some experts believe that Barca could try and include their record-signing as an add-on in the club’s future transfer offers. However, this strategy hasn’t worked in Barca’s favour with PSG as the French giants aren’t interested in swapping the 27 year old for Neymar.

The Spanish giants could try and include the Brazil international in their attempts to sign their other transfer target Lautaro Martinez who has an asking price of 111 million euros. This might be an effective strategy as Inter Milan need to sign wingers after not being successful with Alexis Sanchez on their roster.
