Barcelona might lose one of their key midfielders to Manchester City, who seek to replace the outgoing David Silva in the next transfer window.

More from Everything Barca

Pep Guardiola has been scouting for a long term replacement for David Silva and feels that signing Arthur Melo from Barcelona could work as a potential replacement.

Arthur signed for the Spanish giants in the 2018-2019 season for 40 million euros. The 23-year-old central midfielder won over the Barca faithful with an exceptional first season, however, as time progressed Arthur picked up injuries which hindered the quality of his performances for the club. His lifestyle isn’t on the wavelength either, and his constant propensity of being at leisure has come at a cost.

According to the Don Balon, The Brazilian has shown no signs of improving his performances over the last few months, and that has severely impacted Barcelona’s creativity as Ivan Rakitic has not been at the top of his game either.

The Catalans are going through a phase where they are re-establishing their midfield and will need to replace players such as Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho who are on the verge of leaving the Camp Nou. Arthur could join this list if he’s unable to win Lionel Messi and Bartomeu’s trust before the start of the transfer window.

Despite Manchester City’s efforts and financial strength that may bring them closer to landing their man, Arthur might not be willing to join the Premier League giants as he will miss the chance to play Champions League football in the upcoming two seasons given the club’s ban.

The Spanish giants might consider agreeing to this move if the Citizens will pay a large sum of money for Arthur. This is because Barca has made it clear that they want to sign either Neymar or Lautaro Martinez in the upcoming transfer window and are willing to lose players in the process to get the duo to the Camp Nou.

Do you think Barca should let Arthur join Manchester City in the upcoming transfer window?
