The Magpies might be the third club in Europe to be partnered with the middle east after Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. Mohammed Bin Salman is set to take over Mike Ashley as the owner with an 80% share of the English club, according to Independent.
The fans at the St James Park are overwhelmed with the possibility of the change of ownership and they cannot wait for their first few marquee signings. Don Balon claims that the English club has considered signing Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, the Senegal national team captain has been a long-term target of several clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, from the entire lot, Barcelona is the club that is in the dire need of Kalidou Koulibaly, since the club has lacked quick and aggressive centre-back ever since Carles Puyol’s departure in 2013/14. The African defender due to his versatility can play as a full-back and centre-back when needed and is applauded by pundits around the world for his passing quality and his decision making while making interceptions.
Napoli has demanded 80 million euros for their star defender and Barcelona would be in no condition to meet their demands after Bartomeu is adamant on recklessly spending whatever it takes to sign Neymar from Paris Saint Germain. Meanwhile, Newcastle United is prepared to offer Napoli 80 million euros for Kalidou Koulibaly and Bartomeu’s sheer negligence has costed Barca once again.
The misery for Barcelona just does not end there as Newcastle United have assured Napoli that they are willing to offer a handsome sum for Fabian Ruiz. The former Betico midfielder was a prime Barca target for the upcoming season and Quique Setien is a huge admirer of the Spanish midfielder. However, Newcastle United is ahead of the Catalans in the race to sign the talented Spanish midfielder from Italy.
The Catalan definitely do not require Neymar who would cost the club a minimum 200 million euros, although Neymar has proven himself time and over again in the Spanish League during his tenure at the Camp Nou, his undisciplined lifestyle along with this huge wage demands is an unnecessary burden that Barca does not require at the moment.
The board at Camp Nou must realise soon enough that there is no need for Neymar and the relentless pursuit of the Brazilian is only going to end in failure. Instead, the board must focus on other players and the youth academy instead.
