Barcelona are being forced to make a lot of changes by their captain but the most recent demand comes as a surprise to everyone in and out of the club.
Quique Setien’s time at Barcelona has rendered a mixed feedback from the fans. The general consensus amongst the players and most of the fans is that the former Real Betis manager has a very naïve personality unfit to deal with the dressing room and all the egos it carries in the Camp Nou, and therefore, he is not a good choice going in the longer run.

As and when the season resumes, there will be a lot of pressure on the Barcelona first-team to deliver and make a case for the current board as well as ease some pain off the fans who have had to see a lot of drama at the club. Having said that, the Blaugrana are in a perfect position to win the league title and it would not be surprising to see Setien walk if they end up losing it.
Don Balon has reported that Lionel Messi is not a big fan of the 61-year-old and wants a replacement in the summer regardless of what the outcome is upon the season’s end. The likes of Ronald Koeman and Xavi have been linked with a return to the club where they achieved legendary status as players, but the greatest Barca player of all-time has suggested a weird option.
Messi wants the Catalans to go for former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian football manager has been without a job since leaving the Allianz Stadium at the end of 2018-19 and has been the subject of a lot of rumours and links to other clubs since being without one. However, he may not be a good choice for the La Liga leaders.
Barcelona has always been an attacking side which controls a lot of the ball, so Allegri’s philosophies may not work well at the Camp Nou because they are completely opposite. The defensive manager has always been in the Serie A, hence, his sides have always been defence-minded in Milan as well as Juventus.
The former AC Milan boss did take his Juventus side to the Champions League final on two occasions, but even then, the defensive record was what played a key role. Quique Setien deserves more time as coach because it’s clearly the players who are underperforming, coupled with a clueless board and therefore, a change in the dugout is the last thing that Barca must make happen.
Do you think Max Allegri would be the right choice for the Catalans, considering that they hold a poor defensive record for this season and have been exposed at the back several times?
