Barcelona has been scouting the market for cheap and reliable attackers.

More from Everything Barca

Barcelona is hopeful to cash out on Philippe Coutinho in the upcoming transfer market. Coutinho hasn’t been able to impress Quique Setien or Lionel Messi with his performances in the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian has only been able to score 21 goals and provide 11 assists in 76 games across all competitions for the Spanish giant and after failing to perform in his loan spell this season, Coutinho has lost his space in the eyes of Barca’s management.

Barcelona has identified Willian from Chelsea as an ideal replacement for Coutinho. According to the Don Balon, Willian is contemplating his options away from the Stanford Bridge as his contract expires in 2020. Clubs such as Arsenal, Juventus, Liverpool and Barcelona have been in touch with the Brazilian playmaker.

Willian who was once fixed on joining Barca is rethinking his offers as the Brazilian playmaker seems unsure of what role he will play in Spain. This is because the club has many attacking options such as Ansu Fati, Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. To add to this matter the Spanish giants have listed Neymar and Lautaro Martinez as their primary transfer targets.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk player seems insecure that he will not get any opportunities to play if he joins the Camp Nou and will waste his last few years in football sitting on the bench.

Liverpool has tried to capitalise on this opportunity. Jurgen Klopp has been in contact with Willian and has tried to persuade him to join his team. Many reports state that the Brazilian playmaker will play a similar role to Xherdan Shaqiri and act as a luxury substitute.

Willian is yet to confirm his final destination and is waiting for the coronavirus to pass after which he will assess his options.

Do you think Barca will beat Liverpool to sign Willian?
