Landing both of their primary targets was looking like a task beyond Barcelona, but a well-planned scheme has pitched the ball in their court.

Josep Maria Bartomeu is on a mission to impress the fans after the most recent debacles at Barcelona by signing both, Lautaro Martinez and Neymar. The prospect of bringing the two South Americans into the club seems like a distant fantasy and mere miracle looking at how the finances are being handled right now, and more so amid the coronavirus pandemic.

More from Everything Barca

Don Balon has reported that in a bid to land the club’s biggest marquee signings in the summer, the president has plotted an ambitious tactic of raising as much as an estimated 410 million euros. With such kind of cash inflow, it’s almost inevitable that the Blaugrana will afford Martinez and Neymar as well as their lofty salaries and bonuses.

One of the first players who the club would like to sell is the second-choice shot stopper Neto who seems to be unhappy at the club. The player has barely had any minutes courtesy of Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s fantastic form and wants to move out just one year since signing from Valencia. He is expected to go for 25 million euros.

Junior Firpo is the other new arrival who is set to be on the transfer list. The left back’s lifestyle and slack attitude has cost him in terms of reputation at Barca, so even he looks likely to depart for 25 million euros. The former Real Betis man would be joined at the exit door by Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo, worth 60 million and 25 million respectively.

From among the midfielders, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic are definitely leaving if one notices how things have panned out with them. The midfielders are in-demand and will earn Barca somewhere around 50 million euros together. Arthur Melo could also be forced out, but only an offer near 80 million euros would convince the Blaugrana, so he is safe for now.

Barcelona’s biggest gain will be if they find customers who are willing to offload the burden of their flopped attackers, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho. There’s nothing that needs to be said about the expensive signings and how they’ve been unsuccessful but fortunately for the Catalans, there are suitors.

However, it looks like the Blaugrana will be foolish with their demands for both of them as they’d like to have 100 million euros for the former Borussia Dortmund winger and 80 million for the current Bayern Munich loanee. For players who have been outright subpar, no club is going to spend record-sums at least in the current financial situation worldwide.

Nonetheless, signing Neymar and Lautaro Martinez is a dream for Josep Maria Bartomeu and it could be so even post the summer’s transfer window because getting rid of Coutinho and Dembele is not going to be a piece of cake. But if there are some leads achieved, then the wanted attacking duo could sign for the La Liga giants and possibly earn Bartomeu another presidential tenure.
