At the Santiago Bernabeu, Zinedine Zidane has insisted that the signing of Dayot Upamecano is crucial, the Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos has not yet been offered a contract renewal as the club are still reviewing the current situation on whether they should offer the Spaniard an extension at the end of 2021 when the defender would be 35-years old.
Barcelona finds themselves in the same boat as well, the Catalans are on the look for a replacement for Samuel Umtiti who has already made a decision on his future at the Camp Nou by handing a transfer request, Barca also needs to find a replacement for Gerard Pique who is already 33 years old and has not aged well.
However, Real Madrid is in deeper waters since Eder Militao has not lived up to the 50 million price tag that the Los Blancos paid to Porto in the summer of 2019 and Nacho wants out as he prefers being a starter at another club, that would leave Zinedine Zidane with only Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.
However, Don Balon claims that the news emerging from Germany has brought misery to both Barcelona and Real Madrid who were eager to get their hands on Dayot Upamecano.
The report states that the player has turned all the other requests as well from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga man prefers staying where he is at the moment in Germany and has also agreed to a contract renewal that would keep him at the Red Bull Arena for a few more seasons to come.
Florentino Perez and Josep Maria Bartomeu would have to look elsewhere for a replacement for Dayot Upamecano. The possible alternatives that both the clubs can consider are Jonathan Tah, Andreas Christensen, and Davinson Sanchez.
